Snow and what I think!

The first thing I want to say is I do not like snow and I am not one of those dogs that goes out in the snow to play. Other dogs can do it if they want but that is strictly for the birds if you know what I mean. I noticed the humans playing on my street right in this cold stuff. Can you imagine?
After I go outside in the snow I come in and jump in my warm doggie bed in front of the fireplace and thaw out! I sometimes give my lady the look like I am freezing and start shaking and she will pick me up and cuddle me.
I have no problem wearing any of the sweaters in my wardrobe but honestly some of the sweaters she puts on me are a little out there. I persevere.
I miss running outside whenever I want to. The door to my own little doggie door has been closed for the winter because it lets in too much COLD air. That has been a bummer because I have to roust my lady to let me out and then bark at the back door to be let in again.
Our Cat, Miss Fuzz...loves the outdoors and she does the same thing as me all day long.
My Human said that she feels like a doorman and should dress the part. She doesn't mind really.
By the way have you thought about what it would be like if you had to poo outside in 5 inches of snow and you are only 11 inches tall. Think about it from a dogs perspective. I'm just saying. Think about it. Well, it is time for a nap. Later!

The Kitchen

The kitchen is my favorite room in the house. There is a lot of activity there and if I hang around long enough, something eventually drops on the floor that is edible. You could say that I help keep the floor cleaner.
Also I notice that the lady likes me around no matter where she is and to tell the truth, I like hanging out with her no matter where she is.
Here the rule is for everyone to come through the kitchen door. Everyone unless it is someone she doesn't know them comes in through that door.It gets real active some and there is always a lot of hugs and good feelings. No one gets past the kitchen until they say hello to me.
On the nights when she teaches the spiritual class there are a lot of ladies that come through that door and they all give me love and attention. Some of them may give me a bite of cracker or a chip even though I am not supposed to have it.
A lot of people like to hang out in this room for a while and have a cup of coffee or something. There is just something about this room. It always feels so good in especially when she is cooking and all thee wonderful smells fill the house. Yup! It is my favorite room.

The weather

You humans talk a lot about the weather and what it is going to be. I wonder why you do this? Animals don't do this at all. We have a sort of built in radar that tells us what it is going to be.
For the most part we just stay in the moment and deal with it. If it is hot we slow down and don't do much at all in the hottest part of the day. If it is turning colder we get thicker fur and the birds get more water proof down under their feathers. Eating more to build up body fat when there is less food in winter is just something my wilder animal friends do and the squirrels store food by burying it in the ground.
If it rains we are going to get wet. That is just the way it is. We don't worry if it is going to rain or give it a second thought.
Are you aware that we know if there is going to be an earthquake or a tsunami? We feel it in the energy of the earth. We are pretty awesome creatures when you think about it. The only thing I personally don't like is thunder and lightning. It scares me because it is so loud and the flashes of light almost hurt my eyes. I like to stay close to my human when that happens. She loves storms...go figure! She gets this look on her face of wonder and awe and talks to this God friend of hers when she sees a storm. wonder why she does that but it makes her happy and peaceful so it is what it is.

To Me Food Is Important

I heard a human say that she loved being a woman. I love being a dog. I wouldn't want to be anything else except for the lady that shoves hamburgers in a bag through a window just for a day. I could eat a lot of hamburgers and then I would want to go back to being a dog.

I can't seem to get enough food and I am hungry a lot. I like people food but when my lady got wind of how bad it was for me that pretty much put a stop to handouts. I have to admit that if there is food around that I can get to, I will eat it even though I know my human is going to be very upset with me. I just can't help it. I was given a nickname of HOG DOG and It is appropriate. I don't care. I am what I am. I am a dog that loves food.

This love of food almost got me killed because I spied a huge chocolate bar on the coffee table a year ago and I ate it all in about five minutes. I left only the wrapper. When my human came into the room and knew what I did she grabbed me up and took me straight away to the vet's office. It seems that chocolate is bad for canines especially in large quantities. I only weigh 12 pounds so if you do the math you can figure out why my lady was so upset. They gave me something to make me sick and I threw up for a long time. The doctor said he had never seen so much chocolate come out of a dog before.

I hate to admit it but if there was another chocolate bar and a chance to scarf it up, I think I might do it again. It was so good! I told you, I can't help myself.

My advice is to make sure you keep any food out of reach even if you leave the room for just a minute...some of us dogs are just too tempted. It is in our nature. I remember my human praying on the way to the vets office and asking this God she talks to all the time to send me protection and let me be okay and I was. This God is a good God and I am glad she was being heard.

I Am Busy Being a Nurse!

I have a special gift and a lot of animals do. We have the gift of healing energy but so do you. Many of you just don't use the gift but you should. Have you ever noticed that when you cut or burn yourself that you put your hand on it? Deep inside...there is the knowledge that your hands hold so much healing for you and others.

We have had company lately and I like this lady a lot. She had to go the the human vet for some kind of medical things and my lady told her to come here for a few days to recover. When she is here I try and give her some of my special love and energy. I stay by her side and lay close and just love her and it seems to make her feel better.

She had a little dog and very recently had to do the right thing and let her go because her dog was sick. She was little like me and very cute and was so loved and spoiled like me. The lady's heart was broken from missing her so I am trying to help her to heal from that also.

Her dog is still here only in another kind of world that I can see and feel. She isn't dead like you humans think. She is very much alive and will be waiting for her lady when the time comes for her to go to this other side. Her dog doesn't want her lady to be sad any longer. She just wants her to be at peace and to love again
and give another dog a wonderful life like she did her.

Visit To The Vet Clinic

My lady took me to the vet last week, It was time to trim my nails and to get my check-up. I also had to get a shot. I don't like going to the vet and I sure don't like the shots and all the poking and prodding they do but I guess it is to keep me healthy and I am grateful for that. I feel gratitude for a lot of things just like you people do. I have a warm comfy bed and good food. I am fed organic food and very rarely get anything she is eating because it is people food and not dog food. I know it is because she loves me but darn it all I sure would like a piece of pizza every now and then...just a bite.
The lady vet always comments on what a good dog I am during my visits. She says I am stoic. My pack leader says that means that I have a calm unruffled manner with very little emotion. Well, she is right. She is calm so that makes me calm. It just works that way somehow. I can feel what she is feeling. I submit to what has to be done because I know that it goes much quicker that way and we can get home sooner. I always get a treat and lots of attention when I get home for being such a good boy.
This time I was sore from where I got the shot for a few days and it was difficult to lay down right and sit so I did whine a bit. When I whine, she can't stand it
very well so she will hold me and rub my ears and give me kisses. I guess you could say I kinda milked it because she was so sweet when she tended to me. It is not like I don't get attention. I get a lot of it but the sympathy attentions is extra special. It only worked for two days and she was on to me.
I have noticed you humans do this sympathy thing also but it can be carried to the extreme and it backfires on you so try not to do this very often in a deliberate way. In no time at all, other people will see right through you and avoid you. You don't want that, do you?

My thoughts on chilling out!

It sure has been hot and I don't want to go outside and play now. I don't want to play too much inside either. I have become what you humans call a couch potato. I say when you body is beat down from something, "take a chill pill." You have to allow yourself to relax.
Once you have done that then you have to learn to relax the mind or you will burn out and I heard my lady talking about stress and how it can kill you if you don't pay attention to what your body is telling you. She says the your scientists have proven that you can make yourself sick. I wonder what is the sense in that?
If I am tired I go find a comfy place and there are a lot of them around here. My favorite is in the leather recliner. It is perfect! It is more perfect if someone is sitting there. I can cuddle with them.
I am a very blessed little dog because I have very short fur. In fact. it is so short that I could actually get sun-burned. I am too smart for that to happen.
Well, anyway there is a lot of talk about the heat these days but I know it won't be too long and it will turn cooler and you will be dragging out the sweaters. I wear sweaters too and I have a lot of them. Remember the short fur? I think cool thoughts and dream about fall leaves and the smell of wood in a fireplace.
Then everyone will be talking about how cold it is. It never fails. It is what it is and I will adapt and not try to resist what is. There is simply no point. So what I will say again is " CHILL OUT."

A DOG'S PRAYER

Dear God,
As I look into the mouth of the universe,
help me to be unafraid of life.

Help me strive to be joyous and find humor in the small
things and laugh with spiritual gusto.

Help me to be fully present in my life
and aware of my surroundings.

Help me to remember that I was created from
love to be love in every second.

Lastly, help me to understand that there is
no difference between the big and the little dogs
except size.

Of course we have feelings!

Well, it has been a long while since I have put anything out there for all of you humans and your pets. Actually many of you are like our pets. Do any of you humans have any idea how much you can be loved by us?
I love my lady. We snuggle at every available opportunity. I love her smell. Last time she had to board me she took a nightgown of hers with me and instructed them to put it in my bed. It worked. I wasn't nearly as agitated or lonely as long as I could smell her. I calmed right down just from her smell.
I can feel her coming home before her car hits the driveway. I start to feel her thoughts about 10 minutes before her arrival.
They say that animals have ESP, what do you think?

All of us are cute as babies but you should love us when we grow up too.

If you took an animal in to care for and love, it is a lifetime commitment. We are not throw aways. We breath and and cry and feel pain and have emotions and we do weep...just not the way you do.

We have a lot to teach you!

A Dog's Purpose? (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron , his wife Lisa , and their little boy Shane , were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'' The Six-year-old continued,

''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily..

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Humans and prayer

I have observed that when you humans are praying you get a kind of peaceful face and your energy is different when you stop.
I can feel this God that I have heard of is all around you and you seem so much happier and have hope and stuff.
I am happiest when my lady is happy. I am saddest when she is sad.

It sure is peaceful around here. I can't remember when there was any drama around here. This is a good thing because my lady says it is us who creates it and it is us who can get rid of it.
I don't create any drama as there is no reason to do so. I like it calm and peaceful because I get more attention from all the ladies around here when they are happy. It all filters down you know.
I understand that there are some little kids who love my blog. Especially the daughter of one of the ladies who come to class so I wanted to say hello to her. I am glad you enjoy this. I know that you have a sister. Be nice to one another as you never know what could happen in this crazy world and you sure would miss her if she were not around.
The adults have a lot of trouble being nice to each other so teach them by example. You will be a mom someday and you will be far ahead of the game of life if you learn to treat your sister as your best friend.

Well, That is all I have to say today. I think I will go take a nap...one of life's greatest treasures.

Miss Fuzz is catching critters!

The cat that lives in the house is acting like a cat. She goes on the hunt every day and catches little critters a lot. She brought home a live bird and she brought home a dead bird. She brought a few lizards in the house and one live baby bunny. She brings them in like some kinda gift or something.

It gets the household in a bit of a flurry for a while until the unfortunate critter is either released or buried.

It is kinda funny to watch three grown ladies jump into action and they make me go away if I get too curious.

I have never had the notion to kill anything. I guess I am just too well fed.
I wish the cat would quit acting like a cat in this regard. We are not close buddies but we get along and don't really harass each other. We both feel pretty happy to live here.

Right now there are a lot of critters in the back yard and so Miss Poodie keeps busy. They also call her Miss Fuzz.

It sure has been interesting around here and there is a lot of love, caring and scratches for me and Miss Poodie too even though she sometimes brings icky stuff in the house.I figured out that Ladies don't like that but men don't mind it. Go Figure!
I heard my mom talking to this God person again. I can't see who it is. I feel something like energy so that must be God.She was requesting assistance and mentoring and at the end she said..."Thank you, I am grateful," as though she already had it. That is cool anyway you look at it.
Well that is enough for now. I do have a question for you though, "why do you have so much stuff?"
I have included a photo of some more of my animal friends.

This is a GREAT DANE playing with a baby. This dog is so gentle and loving.

I told you that dogs love babies and little kids. They have no ill intent and are so genuine. Animals were meant to be your friends and companions. We will show you that way to peace.

Wanting Stuff

I have watched how you humans are always getting stuff. My needs are simple. I want food, love and a place to sleep. How much more simple could that be. You are always spending time taking care of, using and storing your stuff. I have a favorite red ball and I can carry it in my mouth. That is all the stuff I have. It makes life very simple. If I should lose my ball I might be a ,little upset for a moment or two but I have all the other things I need to survive and most of all I have love to give and I get a lot of it in return.
Life is simple when you don't have a lot of stuff. Simplify and pare down would seem to be the way to go. Just my thoughts and now I think I will go chew on a bone.

Even dogs like a good song...This is so cute worthy

Some more of my thoughts about things

My stomach is happy when I eat and doesn't care what I eat as long as I feed it.

I am not totally sure what this happiness thing is. I think it is just when you feel good and satisfied with life.

Love is what I feel every time I look at my pack leader.

Patience is a virtue is what I have heard but I don't have any of it when I am hungry.

Something happens to me when I smell dirt. I feel like a wolf. it's a primal thing.

Sirens hurt my ears and they sound sad and mournful. I don't like the sound they make.

Times are changing

It used to be that people would let their pets run around loose but there are law in place now that prevent this. The world has changed from the way it used to be when your human kids could feel free and safe to go anywhere. It is just not that way anymore. We should be fenced and leashed. It is for our protection and yours. I have to tell you, I know I have it good here but given a chance I would go through a gate left open to explore my surroundings. It is just natural to do this. The extra smells would be intoxicating.
I could easily be one of the statistics out there, homeless or hit by a car. I don't want to put the lady through that. She still talks about how her little poodle got out and how much it scared her and brought her great pain. She eventually found her but she said the pain and anxiety of not knowing where she was at first brought her to her knees.
I know she loves me and I love her so I will try and be a good boy and not give into the temptation if someone leaves the gate open.
You shouldn't let us run free. The world has changed so much. You can't even let your kid walk unescorted to the corner store any more.
My lady watches over me with an eagle eye and has taught me to come when she calls me.
The world is a big scary place sometimes and I do not want to be alone fending for myself.

Rainy Days

Rainy days are interesting because you never know how long it is going to rain or what it will bring with it. Sometimes a lot of wind and even hail comes with it.I am a little guy so strong winds kinda scare me and I absolutely do not care for the hail.

If you are outside it hurts to get hit by one.
Then there is the bathroom thing. When I do my business as she calls it I have to go outside so if the weather is not good I think you get the picture. I learned early on that if it is time to go I have to turn a blind eye to the weather. It is just better to do it and get it over with. Besides my pack leader always dries me off and gives me a cookie for being such a good boy.
She usually lights a candle or two and plays some pretty music. She says it keeps a glow about the house and more of that stuff she calls good spiritual energy. I for one am all about everything feeling good around here.
The gardens outside are doing very well but she doesn't want me or the resident cat to go anywhere near them. Right now everything outside is getting a good drenching from the rain. I am feeling happy and content with my life here and everyday is such a treat because it is brand new to experience everything all over again.
Well that is my thoughts about today be that as it is. I have to go take a nap because it has been at least an hour since my last snooze.

This video will show you the depth of emotions that we feel

Live and let live

I think I might have mentioned that there is a cat living in our house now. Her name is Miss Fuzz. When she first got here she was scared. She thought I was going to hurt her or something. The truth is I couldn't hurt her if I tried. She is bigger than me.
Her pack leader is a nice lady and I already knew her as she is friends with my lady.

After a few days when she first moved in and I realized this was not just a visit, I accepted Miss Fuzz as part of the household. That is just the kind of guy I am. Live and let live is my motto.

Now I can't exactly say that the cat and I are buddies but we get along just fine. In fact, sometimes she chases me instead of the other way around. It is all in fun. We share the yard and the house and she is settled in just fine. She doesn't cause any problems at all except when she follows someone into the basement when they are doing laundry and gets closed in for a while or tries to use the vegetable garden for a potty box. No one is allowed to go there.

My lady is always saying that we all need to accept each other and be nice and that is what I am doing with Miss Fuzz. I was wondering why humans have such a problem with that. She says this is what this God wants. Is this God a person? I have never seen God but I know he exists because my lady is always talking about God.

Some more of my thoughts about things.

Making friends is a good thing and you should never be intimidated or put off by someone’s size, color or appearance.

Barking at babies or little kids is not a good thing.

It is okay to growl when you want to warn someone off but don’t make a habit of it.

Patience is a good trait. Sometimes your pack leader gets distracted and may forget to feed you on time. You can always bring them your bowl and set it at their feet to remind them.

Whining is a good way to express yourself, just don’t overdo it.

Sick people feel better when they touch and pet you. Being around you helps them.

You may have to put your life on the line to protect your pack leader and family…Stay in shape and stay sharp in case of fire or a snake or something.

Some more doggie wisdom for you humans

Human’s really need animals to be whole in their hearts
and to teach them about love.

We all need friends so if you don’t have any go make some!

Go to the parks as much as possible. There are some wonderful sights, sounds and smells there. Take your pack leader there and make them sit quietly for about ten minutes.

I never think about yesterday, in fact I hardly think about what happened an hour ago.

I am a very good dog and work hard to stay that way but every now and then a human gets on my last nerve too!

I am not spoiled, I am just well loved.

I bark at little dogs and big dogs equally. The only thing I change is that I bark at the big dogs louder so they pay attention to me.

Yes, I can speak, just listen.

I sniff the air a lot. It tells me what is going on from far away and it feels good.
You really should learn to fill your lungs with air.

Bad Plants to have around us!

This is a list of plants that make us very ill and an even cause death. Take a look around and remove them from our reach. Some cats and dogs will chew on anything.

Do you love flowers and greenery and keep a lot of plants in and around your home that your dog or cat can nibble?
It is important to note that a lot of these same plants are dangerous and sometimes fatal to humans so keep the babies away from them.

Lilies

Lilies are particularly toxic for cats. The poisonous part of the plant hasn’t yet been identified, so your best bet is to simply avoid lilies around your home if you also have a pet, especially a cat. Exposure to just a tiny amount of the toxin in a lily plant can cause severe or even fatal kidney disease.

Marijuana Plants

If your dog or cat ingests any portion of a cannabis plant, the result can be depression of the central nervous system, loss of coordination, vomiting, lethargy, increased heart rate, seizures, and coma. Marijuana, while still illegal across most of the U.S., has been approved for medicinal use and cultivation in certain states. It’s important for any pet owner who is also growing marijuana in or around their home to take precautions to keep animals away from those plants.

Sago Palms

This variety of palm tree is dangerous for both dogs and cats. All parts of the sago are toxic, but especially the “nuts” or seeds. Just a seed or two can make your pet desperately ill with drooling, vomiting, lethargy, seizures and acute liver failure.

Tulips

The entire tulip plant is toxic to your pet, but the bulbs are more poisonous than the leaves or stems. Tulip bulbs can cause serious gastrointestinal irritation, drooling, loss of appetite, depression of the central nervous system, convulsions and cardiac abnormalities.

Azaleas and Rhododendrons

Species of these plants contain grayanotoxin, a compound that will cause your dog or cat gastrointestinal symptoms including bloating, diarrhea and vomiting. Ultimately, ingestion of azaleas or rhododendrons can result in coma, cardiovascular collapse and death.

Oleanders

All varieties of the oleander plant are poisonous for both dogs and cats. This plant contains cardiac glycosides which can cause sudden death from heart failure.

Castor Bean Plants

The castor bean plant is deadly to both dogs and cats. The beans of this plant contain a toxin called ricin. Ricin can bring on abdominal pain and bloating, and swelling of the mouth and any other part of the gastrointestinal tract the bean oil comes in contact with. More serious poisoning can cause twitching, seizures, musculoskeletal convulsions, coma and death.

Cyclamen

Cyclamen is a common house plant with roots that are toxic to dogs and cats. The most common symptom from ingestion of cyclamen is gastrointestinal irritation resulting in severe vomiting.

Cilantro

The cilantro plant can cause gastrointestinal irritation and cardiac arrhythmia in your pet.

Yew

The yew plant and in fact, all species of the taxus or yew family of plants can cause serious problems for both dogs and cats.

Amaryllis

Symptoms of poisoning from the amaryllis, also known as the Easter plant, are vomiting, lethargy and depression.

Autumn Crocus

The autumn crocus, a plant commonly found in gardens and yards, can irritate your pet’s mouth and cause diarrhea and bloody vomiting.

English Ivy

All species of the ivy family contain a toxin called triterpenoids. This substance can cause your pet gastrointestinal irritation which results in abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

Peace Lilies and Schefflera

Both these plants contain calcium oxalates can cause severe irritation to your pet’s mouth, esophagus and stomach. Signs your dog or cat has ingested either of these plants are vomiting and diarrhea, drooling and difficulty swallowing.

Pothos Plants

Another very common houseplant is the pothos plant. Both dogs and cats are sensitive to the pothos, which can cause soft tissue irritation in your pet’s mouth resulting in swelling of the tongue and sometimes bleeding of the mucus membranes. If your pet chews on a pothos leaf, he may also have difficulty swallowing.

A Hero Called Scarlett

One of the most poignant, publicized cat rescuers was a stray calico cat from Brooklyn, who even has a website and a poem written in her honor. In March/April 1996, with her eyes blistered shut, her paws burned and her coat scorched, a cat who was later nicknamed Scarlett for her patches of red fur darted into a flaming abandoned building in Brooklyn and pulled out her kittens, one by one. Once all the kittens had been rescued, Scarlett conducted a head count, touching each kitten with her nose to make sure they were all there. Firefighter David Giannelli, a 17-year veteran with Ladder Company 175 told reporters, "She ran in and out of that building five times, got them all out, and then started moving them one by one across the street." Giannelli found the cat family outside the building and took them to an animal shelter, where the mother and babies received treatment. Three months after her heroic feat, Scarlett and her four surviving babies were not only well, but were adopted in a blaze of publicity. A sad note: on October 15, 2008, Scarlett passed away presumably due to complications of her injuries. Her life and times can be found on her own Wikipedia page.

I have something to say about training. Never hit us or yell at us. We get confused when you do that. All we want to do is please you. We like learning new things just like you. Animals can develop a sense of pride. Every time I do something perfect she is so happy. That is my goal and it just makes life easier for both of us. One thing she is adamant about is telling me to "Come." My lady gets real upset if I am not prompt when she is calling me. She said that it may save my life someday.

I think if you didn't approach training us as a job and instead called it teaching us you would have a better experience. We have fun when she is teaching me something new and I get a lot of treats as a reward and I like that a lot. It is part play and part serious. I look forward to that. She shows me such love and she is always saying that
Love is the most important thing and that God is love so we must become love...even the animals. Apparently this God created us too! That is pretty cool!

My Ideas About a Few Things

I have heard it said that dogs and their owners look a lot alike. I decided to check into it and in some cases it is true. Do humans gravitate toward a dog that reflects them and their personality? Now, I know that my lady and I have no common traits of appearance but she is a different sort of human.

If this doesn't make you laugh, you have a heart made of stone.

This is sure to release a little seratonin.

A tale about tails

I don't give any thought to wagging my tail. It just wags. It wags when I am asleep and awake. It wags when I am happy, when my pack leader is putting food in my dish, when she talks to me, when I am running around outside. It just wags. I really think that people who dock a dogs tail should rethink their position on that.
I understand that it is a fashion statement of sorts to improve the look of the breed.
Dogs are not into fashion. Despite what you humans do to a tail, we can still wag the stub that is left.
You humans have a way of wagging your tails too. You do it when you talk, point a finger to make a point or cross your arms. It is called body language.
That is what our tails are, a form of body language for dogs, squirrels, cats, and birds too. Our tails are designed to give us balance when jumping, flying and running etc.
Watch our tails and you will get clues as to what we are thinking and feeling. My lady says that God has body language too through what he created. I think it is important for humans to know that their body language is important and they should be aware of it.
When you create something do it like a dog wags its tail...because you can!

Love Love Love

This one speaks for itself. It will make you go AH!

Hey...what a life!

I am luckier than a lot of my brothers and sisters out there. My lady takes me to the vet on a regular basis. I have my own bed and my own blanket. I sleep inside while a lot of my species sleeps outside with no shelter and sometimes they are chained to a tree all of the time.
There is this way of thinking that we should be fixed so we don't increase the population and I am all for that. It was a bit uncomfortable when I had the operation
but that was then and this is now. I have to tell you though, that I was already getting ideas about this mating stuff when I was three months old so having me fixed was a good idea. There would be a lot of little Hectors and Hectorettes running around if she hadn't done it.
I have a big yard that is totally fenced in and a DOGGIE DOOR! What a fabulous invention. If you can afford this and you want to make life easier then this is the thing to do.
Now I want to make mention that I fly through that door. I love hearing that flap, flap, flap noise when I come through. Sometimes, I like to go out and in just to hear it. Now that it is warmer I will be using that door a lot.
I am feeling peaceful this morning as is usually the case unless my lady is not happy for some reason. If she is not happy I am not happy.
The lady talks a lot about gratitude and being happy with what you have. I get it!
I certainly have a wonderful life.
Anyway, that is just what is going through my mind this morning. Time to fly out that Doggie Door.

A fan sharing her memory!

This is a story sent in from one the fans of Hector's blog. I was unable to download and link the painting here.

We lost our beloved pug Roxy in February 2010. The morning that she passed started out like any other morning. She woke up and jumped off of my daughters bed and had a seizure, which are common for her breed. She died instantly. She had been a member of our family for 10 years. We loved our “Roxy Girl”, as I would call her. She brought so much joy, laughter, and unconditional love into our family. We buried her in our backyard and plan to add some memorial pieces this Spring. This painting of “Roxy” was the first animal painting I attempted and was completed several years ago. We love and miss you Roxy.

Church for animals

My church is anywhere I am. It makes no difference at all. Humans have a need to go to buildings to stay in touch with God but God is everywhere. I feel this presence every moment of my day. I am not sure what God is but I have heard my lady talk about this God for a long time. I know that God is a very Good thing.

Do you remember that little guy about my size called Toto in the Wizard of Oz?
He is one of my hero's. He put up with a witch, a tornado, being carried off by a monkey monster. Wow! he was always brave and I think very talented indeed. Okay! I know it was only a movie but I think if humans just persevered and did what they had
to do it would be a better world out there indeed! Animals don't get a victim mentality unless they are abused. We just live and do. It works out pretty good.

Homer was all washed up!

Homer was the kind of cat I don't like...

As a dog and a small one at that I have mixed feeling about cats. I was actually raised around a cat for a while when I was a pup. It wasn’t my pack leader’s cat. It belonged to someone who was staying in our den. It was not a very nice cat at all. There were times I thought that cat was going to take me out for sure and maybe eat me in the bargain.
For some crazy reason that still escapes me I couldn’t resist playing with that cat’s tail and barking at it when it was taking a nap. Homer was his name and he was very mean when he was bothered during his many naps. He would wake up and give me a warning hiss but the game was so inviting that I always had to go on and rush at his face and bark and turn tail and run. Every now and then he would give chase and the game was on. I usually made sure my pack leader was somewhere nearby so she could save me from getting caught or worse. I did not want to wind up on this cats menu.

One day Homer was chasing me around the pool when I did a reverse
turn on him and he could not stop his forward momentum and fell in the pool. He was not happy with me because as I understand it most cats don’t like water but I sure do. He never chased me after that. He just ignored me or got up somewhere real high where I couldn’t reach him.
Not long after that Homer and his person moved on.

I learned that if you get a cat wet all the fun stops and to always make sure your pack leader is nearby when you are playing with something bigger than you. That is all I have for you today about kitty’s and will send you more doggie wisdom later.

Some more tips for you...from my view!

She took me for a ride and I was on a bridge that was a mile high from the ground. The smells were sweet and the view was incredible and I found out that I am not afraid of heights.

WHAT I THINK!

* Watching a bug crawl can be a Zen experience.

* Being cute is not enough. You have to act cute too!

* Staring at someone for a while is sure to get their attention.

* Blankets, piles of leaves and laundry baskets full of clothes
are instant nirvana.

* Try not to roll in smelly things…no one likes it.

* Refrain from licking anyone in the mouth.

* Don’t take anyone’s food; they will get mad at you.

* It is good to have manners and people etiquette, you get taken more places
**********************************************************************

* Never ever poop in the car no matter how bad you have to go.

* It is really not cool to drink out of the toilet.

From my perspective

Hector’s Dog Blog
My thoughts and musings

Love is the greatest thing of all and you can’t have too much!

Join in on what is going on. You learn new stuff and you get more hugs and back scratches.

Don’t be too eager around new people. Just allow yourself a little space while you check out their energy field.

Be very loving with your friends and family. They will eat it up.

Be respectful to your pack leader if they deserve it.

Rainy days are no fun if you have to do any business outside.

If you are sick, throw up. You will feel better.

Take naps when you need to. They recharge you.

When someone is sad, cuddle with them or get closer and be silent. That is all you have to do.

Walk with your pack leader. While it is good for you, it is also good for them. If they are behaving give them a little more leash.

Don’t snarl or growl unless you have a very good reason. It might get you in trouble.

Be in the now at all times. You don’t miss anything.

Being pampered and spoiled at times is very good for healthy self-esteem.

Having big ears or a crooked tail is okay. It serves a purpose and makes you unique.

4. The doggie door. I can come and go as I please.
5. Maggie, my girlfriend. She is so pretty and loves to play with me. She is bigger than me but I don't care.

10. Cookies. My human buys me the organic kind. They are yummy.
11. Baths. They really aren't that bad and I feel good afterward.
12. Being scratched anytime and anywhere.
13. Ladies. They are just so much more nicer to me than men are.
14. Babies. They are closer to my size and they are as fascinated with me as I am with them.

The Nose Knows

First of all it is a scientific fact that we can smell a lot better than you so I guess you could say we are led around by our noses. There are so many good smells out there and they really catch our attention.
If one of us becomes blind we can still get around just fine as long as we have our sniffer working. We can literally smell emotion as well as feel it. You should smell more, Really open up your nostrils and breathe in and smell your world.

We Grow Up!

We are kinda cute when we are babies but we do grow up and we still need as much love and attention as you gave us when we were a cute cuddly little thing. Some times you humans forget to give us what we need when we grow up and you don't have as much time for us anymore. We get lonely and we get bored with nothing to do when you are gone for hours. Wouldn't you get bored and restless if you were locked in for hours with nothing to do? Oh wait, you do have a place like that. You call it prison.
Put some music on for us when you are gone and if you have a friend ask them to walk us at least once during the day.
